This type of part is for mounting trims, panels or parts onto metal bodywork. The grommet fits into a hole in bodywork. The part is then aligned with the grommet and a screw passes through the part and into the grommet. The grommet expands and locks in position to secure the part without directly cutting into the bodywork.
